2/14/23 Update

We just read that the Quarter Deck beach bar will be reopening on Friday. Feb 17th.

This blog post is visited 100’s of times each week.

1/25/23 Update

There are A LOT of rumors and speculation surrounding the Renaissance Tower. Personally, we have seen no formal announcement from the Tower Board of Directors.

1/2/23 Update

from a member of the Myrtle Beach Resort Facebook group

A lot are asking if the deadline of Jan 5th on the Renaissance Tower will be met and the answer is NO

They have found 3 additional columns that have to be repaired in order to have occupancy so with those columns & the busted sprinkler heads from the Winter Storm Elliott.

No new deadline has been given as of yet. Another meeting is scheduled for Jan 5th and hopefully, we will either have a new entry date at that time.

They have shored up the front columns which were in the worst condition compared to others. So at least we have 3 columns shored at this time.

As many of you know, Kelly and I owned unit 1015 in the Renaissance Tower for almost 20 years.  The Myrtle Beach Resort provided fond vacation memories for us and our 4 children.

For those that do not follow this blog, the Tower was evacuated on Friday, October 7th  over “structural integrity” concerns.

Here’s what we know as of 10/26/22.  The Tower remains closed to owners and guests.  We spoke with a few insiders and a plan is being devised to shore up the building to allow for repairs to continue and for occupants to safely return to the building.  There is no timetable for this process.

We’ll update this post as more information comes to our attention.

We try to visit the Myrtle Beach Resort at least once a year.  The Quarterdeck Beach Bar has always been a favorite of ours.

It saddens us to see the current situation at the Renaissance Tower.

We have several friends and one family member that owns property within the Tower.  We’ve helped market their rentals as our page has built a following of visitors seeking lodging in Myrtle Beach, SC.  They have expressed their frustration to us over this situation and we hope for their sake and the others affected, that the building can be repaired quickly.
