The Snowshoe Ridiculous Pass was first announced by former Snowshoe Marketing Director, Dave Dekema. It was designed to spark interest in the coming ski seasons while allowing for unlimited access for the remaining season.
FEB 2013
It all started on February 19, 2013, when Snowshoe issued a press release of the very first Ridiculous Pass offer. Priced at $199, it was on sale from February 19th to February 28th.
FEB 2014
On February 18, 2014, the Ridiculous Pass took on a new character, Rufus J, Sasquatch as seen in this photo. The pass was a little different this time. It was sold for 10 days from Feb 18 to Feb 28. The rate started at $199 and each day it rose by five dollars until Feb 28th. On March 1st, it went back to its “regular price”.
FEB 2015
For the 2015 – 2016 season, the Ridiculous Pass went on sale on February 17th. This seasons twist included limits on pricing. The first 2500 sold for $209 and the next 2500 passes sold for $219. Passes after the first 5000 sold for $229 until the sale expired on February 26th.
FEB 2016
Following a similar pattern but with a slight increase, pricing for the 2016 – 2017 season started at $219 for the first 2500 passes. The price rose to 229 for the next 2500 and capped off at $239 for passes sold after the first 5000. This sale ran only 6 days from Feb 16th to Feb 21st.
FEB 2017
By the 2017 season, the decision was made to use a single price model. The Ridiculous Pass went on sale for 8 days from Feb 21st to Feb 28th. The pass was offered at a flat $229 for those 8 days.
MAR 2018
Keeping in tune with the prior season, the pass was sold in 2018 for the same $229 price but did not go on sale until March 6th to March 15th. Given that the season usually ends in late March, this shortened the “remaining season” use for new pass holders by a couple of weeks.
MAR 2019
Now we begin a similar pattern for the next two seasons. In 2019, the Ridiculous Pass went on sale from March 5th to March 14th but the price also increased to $259.
MAR 2020
As per the prior year, no real change in the format for the 2020 / 2021 Ridiculous Pass. It sold for two weeks from March 5th to March 19 and the pass was now $279 per person. This season did bring on on HUGE variable. The COVID 19 pandemic forced the resort to abruptly close on March 14, 2020. Luckily, Snowshoe opened in Dec 2020 to delight of its many patrons.
2021 ……..?
At the time of this writing, we are waiting on the release of a 2021 – 2022 season pass. Will the Ridiculous Pass continue? Will it change to something new?

Well, folks, today is a very sad day. Snowshoe has decided to retire the Ridiculous Pass. Instead, they have announced a season pass for $429. One can get a renewal discounted pass at $379 until the end of March.
