Snowshoe Mountain opening day is slated for Friday, November 22, 2019. Of course, this is all dependent on how much Mother Nature cooperates with Snowshoe’s award-winning snowmaking crew. We certainly will not complain if she chip’s in a couple of feet of natural snow to help the cause.
We will be ready to hit the slopes promptly at 9 AM to catch those first tracks of the 2019 – 2020 season. If it’s anything like last year, look for about 10 – 12 trails to be open in the Snowshoe Basin area. In our experience, a typical Snowshoe Mountain opening day involved running the Ballhooter high-speed quad and the Powder Monkey 3 person fixed grip. Speaking of Powder Monkey, we heard the word on the street is that lift is scheduled to be replaced for the 2020 – 2021 season.
I know many folks are hoping for a long, cold and snowy season. We’ll be glued to our webcam in Mountain Lodge 322 watching for those first real flakes to make their way into Pocahontas County. As in past years, we’ll be rooting for what Snowshoe locals call “Cheat Mountain Magic”.
If you have not made your lodging reservations yet, we suggest you do so as soon as possible. Take a peek at our opening on our quotes page HERE. We offer a 1 BR slopeside unit that sleeps 4 and a 2 bed 2 bath unit that sleeps 6. Both units are fully furnished. Linens and paper products are provided.
With the advent of the Ridiculous Pass, weekend lodging is in high demand and the slopes can be crowded during the prime ski season. While on the subject of passes, there is a limited supply of 3 for all passes for sale this fall. Check out our POST regarding pricing and availability.
Let’s all THINK SNOW and we hope to see you on the slopes on Snowshoe Mountain Opening Day 2019.
