Kickin Chicken at Snowshoe Review

  • by

On Friday, February 11th our group of 10 gathered for an evening feast during a recent ski trip to Snowshoe Mountain.  I decided to try the new place on the corner of Rte 66 and Rte 219, The Kickin Chicken.

UPDATE It is now located in the old Rte 66 Sub Shop across from the Snowshoe Inn.

Earlier in the week, I reached out to the folks at Kickin for suggestions on menu options for a group of 12.  They were very responsive to my message and VERY helpful during the process.  Our number shrank to 10 so we modified our order to the following:

  • 4 Roasted Chickens
  • 2 QT Mashed Potatoes
  • 1 QT Gravy
  • 2 QT Mac n Cheese
  • 2 QT Slaw
  • 2 QT Green Beans
  • 9 Rolls
  • 2 Large Caesar Salads
  • 2 Large Elaine’s Salads
  • 3 Bread puddings
  • 3 Tiramisus
  • 3 Brownies

Kickin Chicken FeastI scheduled pick up for 5:30 PM on Friday so we could get back to our condo at Leatherbark and set up for a 6 PM dinner.  We arrived at 5:30 and were greeted by 3 very friendly staff members.  All the food was neatly packaged, then placed into boxes for easy transportation.

Back at Leatherbark, we set out all the food in a buffet-style setting.  We all took turns stuffing our plates with this delicious bounty.  Every single person raved about how tender and moist the chicken was.  Several of our “heavy hitters” went back for seconds (one may have gone back for thirds). After filling our bellies, we all sampled each of the desserts.  All were very good but the bread pudding seemed to be the favorite of the three.

Summary 5 stars.  I highly recommend The Kickin Chicken.

The only negative thing I have to say is about me.  I ordered way too much food.  We had a lot of leftovers.  I took home one whole chicken and 2 servings of Elaine’s salad.   Kelly and I had a huge chicken salad right before the kickoff of Super Bowl XVI.
